This year, Tisha B’Av falls on Wednesday July 22nd-Thursday July 23rd. Below is a guide to help you prepare.
On Tisha B’Av, we refrain from:

Eating and drinking
-
Bathing or washing for pleasure

Applying lotions or perfumes
-
Wearing leather shoes
-
Engaging in sexual relations
-
Greeting others
-
Studying Torah, except for sections related to mourning and destruction
There will be a designated space available at the Shtiebel for those who are halachically required to eat. If you have any questions about the fast, please reach out to Rabbanit Fruchter.

11:30 AM: Oy, Meh Haya Lanu: Asking Audacious Questions a creative writing workshop with Amanda Gelb
12:30 PM: Sinat Chinam Under Pressure, Then and Now with Louis Polcin
1:30 PM: The Waters of Healing: a mosaic workshop with Rena Fruchter. All ages welcome (children under 12 with adult supervision). Not required, but feel free to bring a ceramic object you'd like to break and integrate into the mosaic.
2:30 PM: Rebuilding our Souls, Rebuilding the Beis HaMikdash with R' Tim Tomer Yitzchok Cravens
3:30 PM: Exploring Grief: Podcast listening & reflection "Grief is a badge of Love" with Rachel and Jon Goldberg-Polin
4:30 PM: Class with Rabbanit Fruchter: The Imprisoned Prophet: Reacting to Communal Rebuke
5:00 – 7:00 PM: Rebuilding Together: Crafting & chesed program with dinner, for our Shtiebel kids with Marlee Waleik
5:30 PM: Panel: Is It Always the Churban? Tisha B'Av and the Uses and Abuses of Historical Memory Join Louis Polcin (historian of the Churban period) and Rabba Rori Picker-Neiss (Rabbi and Jewish professional) to explore why we remember the calamities of the Jewish people. What are the risks, the opportunities for growth, and the power of distance for communal self-reflection when the heat of the moment doesn't allow for it?
7:45 PM: Mincha, followed by short learning by Rabbi Joshua Frankel
